About A Defining Moment
In 2005, during his last year as president, Dr. Jimmy Draper initiated a new philanthropic initiative of the LifeWay ministry by beginning a major donor campaign called A Defining Moment.
 Dr. Draper recognized that the physical and spiritual needs of people in our country and around the world continue to be unmet, and the battle for the minds of hurting people is intensifying. People are looking for answers that will solve their problems, and humanitarian programs have helped but have not met deep spiritual needs.
As global problems increase and intensify, time is not on our side. Therefore, LifeWay's leadership has taken the initiative to touch the nations for Christ in a new way.
This bold and innovative campaign will not only result in millions of people coming to Christ, but the projects funded will be remembered as defining moments for scores of people who receive their first Bible, for nations that decrease the rate of AIDS and teenage pregnancies, and for societies that are provided with a means to solve major cultural problems-all to the glory of God.
LifeWay has long been known as the finest provider of religious resources anywhere in the United States, but this moment gives us the opportunity to do things of a global nature that we've never done before. God has provided us with resources we know will impact the nations for Christ and transform millions of lives. We have the passion, the vision, the energy, the knowledge and the infrastructure to do this effectively and with very minimal administrative costs.
Many of our resources are being translated into other languages and can now be purchased in nearly 100 countries. We have consultants all over the world who are training people using the resources we provide. This is truly an opportunity for us to not only be known as a great resource provider, but as a ministry servant to the nations of the world.
